Dr. Bandana Chawla Interviews Dr. Neal Barnard

WFPB Advocacy – Change Your Eating! Change Your Life!

Just 1 Thing (at a time) 4 Health

“Because changing habits and lifestyle is daunting without support.”

WEEK 15 – WFPB ADVOCACY – CHANGE  YOUR EATING. CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Featured Doctor:    Dr. Bandana Chawla Interviews Dr. Neal Barnard

Dr. Bandana N Chawla is a board certified internal medicine physician and a diplomate of American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She has been in private practice in the Houston area for nearly 20 years. Vegan for 5 years, Dr. Chawla is passionate about plant based nutrition, yoga and meditation. In 2017, to promote holistic health in the community, and follow her passions, she co-founded Peaceful Planet Foundation.

Dr. Neal Barnard is an American author, clinical researcher and founding president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). He serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine, having also founded the Barnard Medical Center under the banner of PCRM. He is also one of the expert voices joining Hippocrates Docs and the Just 1 Thing 4 Health (J1T4H) program.

Growing up as part of a cattle-ranching family in North Dakota and the son of a physician, Dr. Barnard received his medical school training and degree in psychiatry at George Washington University School of Medicine. During his time at George Washington, he began to explore the health benefits of a vegan diet, later adopting veganism. Dr. Barnard has written for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and his often cited by the organization, having also appeared in the 2011 documentary feature film Forks Over Knives.

In this video, Dr. Chawla interviews Dr. Neal Barnard and explores Dairy, the WFPB Movement and Why It’s Important We Spread the Word!

Did you know that cheese has an addictive potential? Changing to a whole food, plant-based diet and lifestyle has changed countless lives. From dairy to heart disease, the public needs to know more. Helping efforts to spread the word is not just a good idea. When you’ve got something that can save a life, don’t be silent! Don’t be quiet! Spread the word!

Dr. Barnard’s Challenge to you:
When you’ve got something that can save somebody’s life, we really have to get the word out about it. Change Your Eating. Change Your Life. Spread the Word!

Cheese is the subject of Dr. Barnard’s latest book, “The Cheese Trap” and studies confirm there are actually mild opiates that are concentrated in the cheese. They attach to the very same brain receptors that heroin attaches to, making it much harder to forgo the cheese when you don’t know the true facts.

The key is reaching out to other people in our lives and our networks, through all the social media platforms that we can, to share new ideas, products, recipes and information so we can change what we eat and live a better quality of life.

To assist you on your journey, here are some easy to follow steps to help you meet This Week’s Challenge:

Try the PCRM method for going vegan. There are two easy to follow steps over 1 month.

[1] Step 1 is over the 1st week, don’t take anything out of your diet. You’re not giving up anything. What you’re doing is trying things out, checking out the possibilities with a vegan diet. Come up with breakfast, lunches and dinners that you will try. Try the meals that are vegan. Try recipes and meals at restaurants.

[2] Step 2 is for the next 3 weeks, jump in the deep end … all vegan, all meals for 3 weeks. Let the meals be the ones you tried out that you liked and do it for 3 weeks. At the end of the 3 weeks, you don’t have to continue if you don’t want to, however, you just may want to. 😊

What ends up happening is, you knew you were happy as a meat eater, but you’re happier having left all that aside. Your new eating habits becomes so easy. You feel better and you will want to continue.

Try it. Do the first week and check out the possibilities. Then three weeks, putting your testing to good use. Pretty soon you will be saying, “I wish I had jumped in sooner cause the water feels so good.”
