WEEK 28 – THE BLISS POINT: IS IT CONTROLLING YOUR LIFE?

When thinking about ‘Bliss’, it sounds like the right place to be… and it could be, unless you’re addicted to drugs, alcohol or food. Studies have evidenced the addictive nature of the Standard American Diet, including dairy. We will explore the results of those studies and what The Bliss Point is doing to our lives and health.

To assist you on your journey, here are some easy to follow steps to help you meet This Week’s Challenge:

To find out if you are being impacted by The Bliss Point, and it’s possibly controlling your life, here are a few tips to help you on this part of your journey:

1. Get more information about The Bliss Point, how it might be running your entire life, negatively impacting you and your family, by picking up a copy of Michael Moss’ book. Find out what these companies found about having the perfect combination of salt, sugar and fat that will keep you addicted to the products used all over the fast-food industry and the processed food industry. See exactly what the studies reveal and decide to stay strong on your WFPB diet and lifestyle journey.

2. Find out what is revealed about the children involved in the clinical studies with sweets and certain combinations of foods.

3. Remember that changing your diet and eating habits is not just about willpower. When we are addicted to certain foods, they can control our lives. Knowledge is the first step to creating change.

4. When you notice that if you begin to be agitated, shaky, have a certain craving for salty, oily and sugary foods, it’s not your fault. It is the food. Be aware because change can be easier than you think.

5. Even taking 15 seconds to recognize the feelings of hunger, be aware of the benefits of a whole foods, plant-based diet and look for those foods as a solution to feeding your hunger.

6. Remember that when your body is going through these changes, you will have cravings and soon your body will be craving the foods that are good for you, empowering you when it comes to your food. Move from an enslaved state of what your food is requiring of you, to an empowered state and a freedom from the addiction of bad food.

7. Explore healthy recipes and make being on this journey fun. Make it an adventure with your children participating in it with you. While they may not understand initially, as you continue to share information you learn with them, they will learn the difference between feeling sick or controlled by unhealthy food and feeling better, healthy and empowered in the better food choices.

8. Remember that a cow’s milk is intended and designed to feed a baby cow to help it grow from a 60 lb calf to a thousand pound or more adult in the course of a year. When you or your children are drinking milk with added hormones, you are exposing yourself to absorbing hormones not intended for you and your body will react to that. It impacts your immune system and has been proven to be the cause of many health related and chronic diseases.

9. Cheese, sour cream, and other processed milk products contain additives that are proven to be opium like. It easily explains why cheese is so addictive.

Understanding The Bliss Point is a critical piece of understanding how processed and fast foods may be controlling your life. This is being done to you intentionally and you must be mindful that you can change, intentional in your desire to change and committed to taking the action needed to make change.

Dr. Esselstyn promotes a diet designed to prevent coronary disease and cardiovascular disease. It is the opposite spectrum of where The Bliss Point has people. The diet excludes all animal products and oils, and prioritizes foods such as fruits, vegetables, pasta and cruciferous vegetables. The dietary changes that helped his patients over the past 20+ years can help you, too. They can make you immune to heart attacks. Don’t eat meat, poultry, fish, or dairy products. Eat a wonderful variety of veggies, legumes, whole grains, and fruits.
